cookie as a lunch menu? say whaaat?

I woke up around 11ish yesterday, with my head going loco coz I was supposed to have a class from 2 - 9.15PM arghh... need some sugar overload!! so indeed I did, I wonder around looking for my momofuku milk bar cookie that I got 2 days ago..FYI, I was really craving for it since the day I heard how decadent momofuku's cookies are..but with NYC depressing weather, I have yet got the willpower to drag my little a** to the corner of 2ave n 13th Street.

however!! since yesterday was St.Patricks Day and it was very sunny & warm-y!! I said to myself "hey.. when was the last time u had ur afternoon walk Mischa dear??"...so I walk to the R train, sat there & think, & rethink .. n again THINK.. "u know what? yeah I think I need a day off from my biology class, it's not like I'm skipping my major classes rite?"

so Naomi, my roomy and bestie (I'll blab about her on my next post), lend me her camera and off I go to wherever the E train stops..(well, it's not like I'll stop if the train took me to Jamaica Center or World Trade Center.. hell no) but ok, here it goes:

1st stop..W4th: Walked around & took pictures.. pass by Jack's Brewed Coffee, was too crowded so I kept on walking..

funny how my tummy knows the right time to be fed.. I was around 6th Ave and W4 when I saw a little restaurant with a few stairs down to the main entrance.. mm.. it looks cozy, crowded, and chillin' (whaat?? I just wanna make a cute group of C's nyahha), let's sit and refuel ..

the tiny place is called Red Bamboo, it's a vegan/vegetarian friendly restaurant with fusion dishes from soul food, traditional american, chinese, thai, indonesian, carribean and what not.. perhaps u might think "how the hell all of that cuisene could be all veggies? sounded blehh.." but Nooo ooo! guess what? they use mock meats!! from "fish"and chips, "chicken" wings, coconut "shrimp", to stir fry "beef" everything was fake meat.. and surprisingly both taste and texture was freakinly similar with the real ones..

so they serve lunch special ranging from $ 6.50 - $ 8.50,
Portabello Mushroom Sandwich, Chicken Parmesan, Fish n Chips, etc .. but I went with the "Codfish cakes with Mango salsa" and all lunch special came up with one skewer of "chicken satay w/teriyaki sauce" or "collard green rolls".

waited like 10-12 minutes and Voila!!

( I know I have to take Photography 101.. but yeah)

my side of mix greens was really dressed to perfection, in a few seconds all that leafy stuff was gone.. and then, this came up..

( I was gonna show u the chicken skewer .. but the picture was horrible so.. I don't want u to get turned off and decided not to go to this cute place)

ok.. and so I stab my -ice cream scoop like-fish cake which made out of soy, fried in a crispy onion batter. and when they say CRISPY.. indeed it was, however, the mango salsa, made the top part all mushy and soft, makes me wonder what's inside.. hmm? I peak a little after I sliced it with my knife, and ouww.. look at that

innards

it was all this mixes of red and green peppers accompanied by a touch of oregano and cilantro. pepperyyy gooowwwwd..
so yeah within minutes.. I ate the whole thing.. NOT! I doggy bag-ed the other cake and ate it for breakfast LOL!

I still wanna tittle-tattle some stuff.. but I guess this post is getting too much right? Or should I continue with dessert??.. you know what I should. Ha!

From W4 station I took the F train and go a cross town to the Lower East Side.
My mind, body, soul, heart, eyes, etc... were thinking about the same fattening concuction of goodness! GELATO! goodness gracious .. pistachio sounded sooo nice,, I'm drooling all over the F train right at that moment . (nahh..)

before I give you my gelato-porn.. here are some of the buildings I wished I could live in..

that's the neighborhood .. and that's the building, I guess my studio apartment would be on the 4th floor..(far enough to take the stairs and exercise, short enough to not give me an Asthma attack)

you know what I'm done talking.. I'm just gonna give you pictures. enjoy ;)

the other part of NYC's chinatown .. before I knew it, my body smells like a mixture of lard and escada.. :(

cute burger place.. check it later ..

and then .. hellow il'laboratorio del gelato.

it was a bummer, coz I thought they would have seats in front of the stall. Oh well, I'll just seat at someone's stairs.. anyways, I was bedazzle with the choices, from dark chocolate, malt, cinnamon, mint chip, raspberry, ricotta, creme fraice, lemon, tangerine, "Guinness", pistachio, and etc..etc..

after a long dilemma.. and three spoons of testers, I decided with fresh mint, pistachio, and guinness in lieu of the creme fraice. Ho!

boys and girls introducing my gelato-porn

innards

can u see what I see?? bits of mint leaves, and crushed pistachios..?? look look!
oh..finally I made the perfect trio of gelatos.. the three flavors mix together pretty well, they hold hands together and down they go to my "red lane".. I love love the texture, but sadly it wasn't creamy enough to be categorized as a gelato.. but overall! it was worth the travel, worth the money, worth the calories!!

That's it for today, I know you guys are pretty bored with my post, so I'll leave you guys dreaming about gelato-porn.. hoho!

cheers ;)
Mischa..
